New Pieces for the Dining Area {my home}

I know I have shared on twitter/instagram my new dining room piece, but I can't recall if I had here. If this is a repeat I do apologize. A friend was selling this antique pie case and as soon as I found the dimensions to be perfect for my space I jumped on it. It did come with doors that had punch tin inserts that were well worn. I had full intentions of either changing the tin out for glass or chicken wire, but once the Mr. removed the doors I fell in love. This piece had a few paint splatters from when her home was painted and I lightly sanded them out and coated the whole piece in Restore a Finish in walnut. It gave the richness to the wood that I wanted to restore. Anyhow, here she is in her happy new home...

One of the many reasons this piece was meant for this space was the cabinet below. I desperately needed a place for all the kiddos art supplies. This houses them perfectly.

Did you happen to notice the new rattan chairs also? They sit at the head of the table. I needed to break this space up further from the light color scheme it had going. It was a little too flat for me and the chairs added the extra layer the space needed. The extra two slipcovered parsons now sit against the wall and are pulled in when company is over.

Do you remember the small chalkboard wall that I painted when this room was used as our office? Well, now that it is the dining area again we rarely used the chalkboard wall. I seem to have grown quite a love for cutting boards and have amassed a small collections. I decided to hang a few here with simple twine and coat hooks. I can not tell you how happy this makes me. In the below image you can see how the keeping/dining area is in reference to the kitchen. Our do it ourself painted cabinets have held up quite well by the way!

I hope to share Ellie's room next week! She and I both are so excited with the way it turned out. Have a great weekend!
