COMFORT WORKS CUSTOM SLIPCOVER REVIEW

I can not be any more excited to be sharing this post with you! This space and house for that matter has moved to a snails pace on checking things off the list. These last couple of months though we have really buckled down to get some hindering projects off that long list. Of course one of the most exciting for me is this den space. When we first toured this house this space was a dark cave that I knew had so much potential. I knew it would be the space that I would want to do all things in and FINALLY that has become a reality. I have to say what put the finishing touches on making this space feel oh so new is our recently received custom Comfort Works slipcover for our dowdy Restoration Hardware Sofa. I mean look at her! She looks brand new and oh so pretty...

Can you even believe it is the same sofa I shared here? I love the deep gray and the way it plays off the warm tones in the room. The fabric is hardy which is perfect since the sofa does sit right by the sliding glass door. We already had a moment with chocolate, but a simple dab of a cold wet cloth and it came right out. WHEW. The slipcover can be washed in cold water then air dried. I will let you all know how that goes when the time comes.

We decided to add welting to the pillows and I am so glad we did. At first I wanted it just like the RH sofa, but I love how it adds just a touch more dimension to the old sofa. I did end up leaving on the old RH pillow covers under this one to hopefully elevate the shedding chicken and I am so happy to say that we have not had one feather break free since receiving our new slipcover.  We have had it about a month and it has been well used. I truly am thrilled with what this slipcover did for the whole space. It really did rescue a bad/expensive buy. Also when did my kids start to look like teens?

Back up a bit and you can see how the slipcover came beautifully packaged. As soon as it arrived my sister and I got busy putting it on. Overall it was so easy. Each piece was labeled which made the process go quite fast. I think I could have done it by myself with some muscle, but having another person made it a breeze.

To be honest I was extremely nervous it would not fit with all the curves of this sofa. I had a million questions going through my head, I mean I could have measured wrong. What if it didn't fit?!?! Alas all my worries quickly vanished as it all came together. It truly looks like it came with the sofa. Better even. I know Comfort Works saved my RH sofa that was worse for wear with the custom replacement cover. Can you imagine the fun that could be had with an ikea piece? They make slipcovers for those too. My wheels are officially turning.

* The slipcover was received in exchange for a review. The review is completely my own. Honestly this house would not be progressing so beautifully without the help of a few collaborations and sponsorship. Thank you to all who support this ole blog of mine! I really am grateful.

** Did you notice the sneak peek into our new mud room and kitchen makeover??? Will be sharing more next week. This space really has made a dramatic change!

KITCHEN PROGRESS

My day is filled with touch up paint and putting this mess back together. The Mr surprised me with starting the massive project of painting the built in cabinet in the kitchen to match the rest of the cabinets I finished here. The built in's act as a pantry for us so I have been taking extra care in not only making it pretty, but also making it functional for the long haul. You are also getting a peek of our new kitchenaid appliances and did you notice the little glass partition has been removed too? I am so excited with the progress and can't wait to share the final outcome. Well, I am actually most excited about having a final outcome in general. After this we are taking a pause till fall on house projects. Easier said than done for someone like me though. Ha.

PAINTING: Farrow and Ball Railings color matched my Sherwin Williams in Color Accent semi-gloss oil based paint. Oil base was not my first choice as I really wanted to go with the actual farrow and ball paint, but the previous owners used all oil base paint and I did not want to put the effort into sanding it all down, priming, then having to paint again as this is not our forever kitchen. Although I can honestly say I am kind of loving it as is now.

PS: Serena and Lily is having their big Tag Sale and my favorite baskets that are in our living room are on a HUGE sale. I have these and these!

The Patio: baby steps

Our patio was on next years project list to tackle. Although I dream of alfresco dining with a group of friends and lounging late nights with family it was not where our money would be best spent in the grand scheme of this ole' fixer upper. Fast forward to a quick jaunt over to Target and I came across this cute little stool on major clearance. They only had one so that night I headed out to another target to even out the pair.

That is when I not only found the stool, but four of these white metal chairs for $10.50! After having customer service do a search on where I could get more {mostly one at a time} my sister and I went to another three targets to find a total of eight. I was giddy to say the least. Although different Target's have separate clearance pricing, but none were over $17.00. Still a win since the ones I was originally eying were $85.00 each. Yikes. Maybe now just a pair for extra seating?

A couple of days later I had a what if I went to one more store and they had them too? The store was a little further out, but they had two more! Now I have a set of ten. The Mr is planning on building an outdoor table. Currently debating between 12 and 14 ft. I want to fit a mass of people you see. The tent is not always out there in case you were wondering. The kiddos and I had a little camping night over the weekend. Oh how I love our yard and the adventure that can be had here!

During one of our Target excursions I came across a three piece rope set that I have been wanting. Like really wanting. I swear it sold out within a week. I was bummed as I knew they would have been perfect match to our outdoor sofa that my papa made me. Did you recognize it with the new cushions? Well Target man Eric informed he found it in the back that very day, but no one knew how to mark it since it was label-less. Of course I knew exactly what it was and pulled it up on my phone. After checking the number it came to only $124! They are just as comfortable as everyone said.

My favorite new piece may be our modern fire pit. It was made by a friend and he is talking about selling a short run of these if they generate enough interest for $300 to Birmingham locals. Can you believe that! It is so heavy and substantial. It slides apart for easier moving though. It will patina overtime and should last for years to come. Every year we find ourselves buying a new one, because inevitable we would forget to cover it every time it rained and soon it would just fall apart. It was basically $150 a year going to the curb. This one now has the look I was wanting and the durability. Does it just not look perfect back here? Love the clean lines.

You can see the patina has slowly begun above. Cannot wait till fall and temperature drops to enjoy a good party out here. Below you can see the table that came with the three piece set and two more Target chairs. They were $30 a piece. Love the clean lines and soft color. Plus they will wash easily. The Mr's egg sits to the left so it gives a perfect spot to sit while he grills.

Of course final touches still need to be done. The table is a must and I plan on adding a few modern pots throughout. Plus the house planters will be filled with bright green ferns. Still a ways to go, but I am certain by fall this place will be ready for one heck of an outdoor party.

*FIRE PIT - Leave a comment or email me if you are interested in a fire pit of your own. Intro pricing for $300 is quite the deal. Birmingham locals only as they are too heavy to ship.
