SUMMER

Is summer flying by for anyone else or is it just me? I feel as if school just let out and I am currently in the midst of being required to sign up for fall sports. I can't even get my brain to go there. We had our one big trip, but besides that have been really low key thus far. It may even border on lazy most days and I am so okay with that. As the kiddos are getting older I know my summers like this are dwindling down. Soon they will want to be with their friends more than I. For now I will relish in the fact that they want to be by side continually and try not be annoyed when they ask me the same question for the 100th time.

Above are a few goodies from our jaunt at the West Homewood farmers market. Pretty flowers and handmade spoons are enough to keep a smile on face for awhile. The kiddos on the other hand enjoyed some of the most amazing cookies by friend Kat and Melissa. They are some of the most stunning cookies I have seen and the rest of the family confirmed they taste great too. It's a win win really. Have I mentioned how much I love a slow summer?

CURRENTLY

Currently I am working on painting the cabinets. We did plan on living with them as is, but I think we are now thinking our kitchen reno won't happen till next year. We are all sorts of not ready to open that can of worms. After putting up the samples it pretty much confirmed for me that I want to go super dark. Almost black. The white laminate counter tops are just screaming for all the help they can get. Thankfully that ole dishwasher has panels that can flip so it too will be black. The stove and fridge will remain white.

Currently I am enamored with my new mirror that I bought for a steal at West Elm. Apparently they no longer make it and had it in the back and just needed to get rid of it. I think it will hang over the piano, but I'm not 100% committed to making holes just yet.

Currently I am reading this book that was recommended to me after FINALLY getting some diagnosis on what has been making me so ill the last couple of years. I'm on a super strict diet, taking tons of supplements and some meds to hopefully detox my body. In short I have a candida overgrowth throughout, I'm allergic to yeast and eggs, and my T3{thyroid} doesn't absorb properly, and that is amongst a few other things. Basically my body is in constant battle with itself and I am praying I will get back to normal in the near future. It's amazing what foods can do to the body.

Currently the "mud room" still hasn't been touched except for the continual pile up of things. Plus KJ's chewy balloon may never stop watching me while I blog. Longest lasting balloon ever.

What are you currently up to?

Here and There

Life according to my iPhone...

I had the privileged of designing a bridal luncheon. My only guidelines were to keep it simple, elegant, and organic in feel. So that is exactly what I did. Greens cut from a garden in varying off white pots. Disposable bamboo plates and cutlery. Mason jars to drink out of with rose gold straws. The napkins had the sweetest scallop and another touch of rose gold. Of course scattered candle light was a must atop a simple kraft paper runner.

The best part was being able to take home cut greens for around my own home.

A snippet of the corporate design job I've been working on while it was still in process. It's almost done!

I've had little time to work on the house so I can only pick and choose what to tackle next. The grossest, but one of the most satisfying tasks of the week was scrubbing out the powder room floors with this nifty little brush. The tile has pores throughout that were caked with grime and the grout was dark with things I probably don't want to think about. On the right you can see the difference of scrubbing out every little pore. Now to find a good sealer. Any recommendations?
