A few days ago I had a doctor'sappointment and I had about an hour to kill before picking the kiddos up from school. I found it to be ample to time to dine at one of my favorite eatery's, The Pantry. The offerings change daily due to season. It's owned and run by Stone Hollow Farmstead who specialize in artisanal farming. Oh, and the most important part... it's delicious! Well that and the design of the whole thing is brilliant. I could move right in.
The Pantry is small and is perfect for a lunch out with friends. What I love most is that it's housed in a cottage AND it still looks like a cottage. The trough planters are filled with herbs and flowers.
As I said the menu changes daily, but they do have a few staples that I get every time. They take me being gluten free into consideration too. I get the trio platter and change it up every time, but my one constant is the pimento cheese. It's the most delicious. It's not offered as a side on the menu, but if you ask I am sure they will oblige. I am also sure to never leave without a shake. They make them with goat and almond milk. I am dairy sensitive too so this is a true treat to drink it and not be queasy after.
My lunch was a rather late one so I did not feel guilty about taking the best seats in the house for myself.
They also offer some spreads, cheeses, and the like to buy. This time around I came home with my very own pimento cheese. I swear it's addicting.
One of my favorite design aspects is the worn floors. I would guess they came in and stripped them then let them be. You can see every drop of a dish, wet shoes, and pure age spots. I am a huge fan of wear and tear. Things that are too pristine tend to make me nervous. HA.
