Our New House {the kids space before}

Let's just say at first the kiddos were not all that excited about their new rooms. They found them to be creepy to put it mildly. After much discussion on how we will make the upstairs ever so fun and fabulous they finally hit the excited stage.

As I write the walls are being repaired and painted. This is KJ's room and he wanted a gray, but we choose a much lighter one. His old light will more than likely go in here, I would share it, but apparently it is MIA on this ole blog of mine. The fixture is brass and milkglass though. We will also get new window coverings. He requested red bedding to go with his red ikea bookcase so of course he will get it! A rug may be in order too. These are ultra fabulous!

This is the cute little hall way that leads to his room. It will be white and bright too. I am sure I will add some art. Out this window it looks like you are in the tree tops. I think this space will lend itself to much adventure.

This is Ellie's room and it will be white. Imagine that. She will keep her current bed, but wants it painted mint green to match this bookcase which is also on our buy list. She will keep her current bedding, because it is way too pretty to part with. I'm also thinking gold tassels and anything else deemed girly. She is into some sparkle that's for sure. Oh, and of course new window treatments and lighting are a must. She will also be getting our cream rug that is currently in our master to keep it all light and airy. Then again this one would be really fun!

The bath is also receiving a deep scrub. The cabinet will be taken out. The extra storage is nice, but it really makes this room look even smaller. With the kiddos still being so young a think a few shelves will be enough. I was thinking a wallpaper would be fun in here, but there is no vent so I am thinking it will ruin quickly. For now it's going white and and I will add a bright curtain. Currently it's between this one and this one although Target may come out with a win. This fixture that I got for a steal in store, maybe $30.00 if that, will be put to use and I may need to get a new mirror. This one was written on with a sharpie and I have been able to get it off.

*UPDATE bought a new mirror! The one I was eyeing from anthropolgie went on crazy sale. YAY!

Our New House {the dining room before}

Here is our cute little dining room. We are pretty much having to start over in here furniture wise since ours won't fit. The door to the right leads back to the kitchen finishing the downstairs circle.

The light fixture will be changed, but I will be keeping the medallion. I think something more modern could be ever so fun. Currently I am on the fence between this one and this one {since it has potential to go on sale}, but who knows maybe I will go in a whole other direction in the end. Probably not though. Again the walls are going white.

We will be selling our dining table to afford another. I want to see it in person, but this one it our top contender for now. I like that it can expand when we have family holidays, but on a daily basis it will be plenty big for us. We still have no idea what we will do for chairs. I think we will just live with the many stools and benches we own till I have a clear cut idea. I want to be sure not to waste money on pieces that will just act as holders especially since this is only a rental. Here are a few I have on my radar and am pondering... one {I have the kid version}, two {I have the bucket version}, three {these are a great price point and being metal should surely last}, and four {I may just give these a test run if they have them in store}.

Our New House {the main living room before}

I have been up since 4:30. Boo. I literally woke with paint colors, flooring ideas, and the "I still have more to pack" dread. Thankfully the Mr can sleep through anything so I am able to time stamp posts for next week. Did I mention we are going out of town for a week for a wedding at the same time I am suppose to move and do all major things to the new house? It should be excited!Anyhow, back to the house... This room may make me the most happy. It's bright and will be even brighter once these walls go white. It has some bends here and there due to settling, but I think it adds to the charm. The thick moldings, working fireplace, and hardwoods that make my heart sing.

 I can't wait to get my hands on this door. Hard to tell here, but it has beveled glass! The boys had it covered and once I took the blind down I knew this house and I were meant to be. The inside and out needs a new coat of stain to make it really shine.

I like how the living room and dining room are spaced together making this room feel larger. I have also been bringing our pup over here and there so he will get used to the house before we actually move in. I personally think he loves it.

The piano will go on the entry wall. As far as my eye can see this is the most level spot and the only place it will fit. One of our current sofa's will be centered on the window and I am doing something fun in the nook next to the fireplace.

The above wall also holds two rooms just past the fireplace. One will be used for the master and the other will be used as an office/guest room. The master will pretty much hold our king bed and a wardrobe, but that's about it. I am thinking of hanging these lights on the wall and just use stools we curently own as end tables. I think the biggest challenge will be finding a way to store our clothes. The room does have a closet, but it is smaller than our current coat closet. HA. I may get a Pax unit or try to find an old piece that hopefully does not smell. Until i do figure it out thoug the clothes will just hang on our trusty rolling racks. Who knows maybe I will find it functional? We shall see. Any tips on how to store clothes without closets?
