This year I gave the kiddos full rein over decorating for Christmas. I loved watching them work together and try to come up with the best ideas. They thought every detail through and I could not be any more proud. To be honest I think they did better than I ever could! My only additions were the tablecloth tree skirt, the wreath on the mantel and the scripture art that a good friend helped me with last year. Oh, and did you notice my new chairs came in? They are rather comfortable and have been used plenty already. Such a good buy!

*PS did you see I added shopping links to a few of my favorite things on the sidebar? This will be my version of a gift guide this year. Ha. One kings lane has been good to me this year. Can't share specifics since family does read this little ole blog of mine, but I did get some wonderful buys. As for the rest? Some I already own and highly recommend and the rest are on my very own wish list, especially the Sorel boots.

*PSS the most perfect stocking from yesterdays post is 40% off today with code HOLIDAY40!!! I so treated myself to one!

**PSSS today only one kings lane is giving a 20% off discount. Enter HOLIDAYCHEER at checkout. Good only today 12/10

Cheap Decorating {an update}

I still get questions about my old house tour that was on houzz years ago so I finally took the time to update it with how it was redone over the last couple of years. I also realized in a recent hasty desktop cleanup I deleted a lot of our house pictures. My bad. Thanks to all you pinners I was able to recover quite a few, but I wanted an updated image for our front make shift mud room area piece that the Mr made when we moved in 6 almost 7 years ago. I could not reach the the play hat on the top that KJ threw up there a few months ago and the shoes are a mess so alas they aren't perfect, but they are real. I added a new plant friend that makes me ever so happy. Home Depot really does have a great selection. Best part is that it was only $14.00 and the basket was $12.00 from Homegoods. You can also see my thrift find umbrella stand that I found for $3.00 in her resting spot. That's a whole lot of happy bang for my buck!

You can see the Houzz update here.

Christmas Came Early

When Uncommon Goods asked me to take a peek at their this years Christmas guide I pretty much immediately fell head over heels for the custom stitch peoplepiece of art. They ever so kindly sent over one of our little family based off a few images of us. Is it not fabulous???? I wanted it to be shown, because it makes me so very happy.  In the end I decided to put it on the cabinet in our dining room. It really is our happy place where we talk, laugh, eat, do homework, play games, and entertain. It also adds another dose of quirk that you know I absolutely love. Even though this was my favorite, there were quite a few items that made my Christmas wish list and a quite few gift ideas for others. Do you tend to shop early? I try to be done by Thanksgiving every year so I feel less pressure. Ha.
